Women’s health is a medical field and a topic of interest that has grown increasingly over the last couple of decades.

The subject of women’s health pertains to issues regarding the female anatomy, physiology and spiritual nature. Diseases, deficiencies and general obstacles specific to the female persuasion are also researched and explained under the headline of women’s health. There are countless popular magazines that focus on women’s health, publishing articles about facial products, make-up, vitamins, supplements and advice about anything from sex to fitness to hormone replacement therapy to breast cancer. There are synthetic drugs and unproven procedures that have been surfacing for awhile to reverse unwanted trends like aging, excess hair and loss of sexual appetite that could potentially threaten women’s health. One of the newer trends that have been introduced, however, is the use of all natural women’s health products as an alternative to the chemically invasive products and procedures. A few examples of all natural women’s health products are vitamin and mineral formulas to improve eyesight, blood flow, sexual appetite or hormone levels.

Weight loss is becoming an unhealthy obsession dealing with body images, but in some cases can improve health and fitness.

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

When weight loss is a result of eating healthy, exercising and/or taking natural supplements it is considered positive. Extra weight, especially extra fat on a person’s body, applies significantly increased stresses on the heart, joints and back. These stresses can be extremely detrimental to one’s health. Healthy weight loss can reduce the risk of diabetes and other health problems, as well as generally extending an otherwise average life span. Recently, the scientific root cause or explanation of obesity has been revealed as being part of one’s physiology. The internal functions of an obese person are different than those of a healthy person, and cause intense hunger pains and food cravings. Natural weight loss supplements can help counteract this constant hunger and lead to healthy weight loss. Unbalanced hormones are a common cause of weight gain, therefore taking natural hormone balancers and herbal supplements would help to create a healthy weight loss regimen.

Essential Fatty Acids

Essential fatty acids, sometimes abbreviated EFAs, are fatty acids that are a required part of the human diet. The human body cannot synthesize these fatty acids and therefore must obtain them from a food or supplemental source. Essential fatty acids were originally classified as Vitamin F, however it was discovered that essential fatty acids were much more closely related to fats than to vitamins, and were reclassified as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-9 fatty acids can be fully synthesized by the human body, and as such are not considered essential to one’s diet. In truth, only two of the omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are essential. Alpha-linoleic acid (LNA) is found only in plant sources- for example, Flax seed oil is a great source of both LNA and LA; however, all other essential fatty acids can be synthesized through modification of omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, and omega-6 fatty acid Linoleic acid, or LA.
